Some places become part of your story without you ever choosing them. For me, one of those places is Sheffield Children’s Hospital. My journey with the hospital began back in 2001 when I was just two years old, I was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. I was so young that I don't remember every detail of those early days, but the experience has stayed with me and has become a part of who I am. My family had to navigate something no parent ever wants to face, and Sheffield Children’s Hospital became a huge part of our lives.
As Ive grown older, I have realised just how much Sheffield Children’s Hospital did for me and my family. I was under there care right up until I turned 18 years old. With the most intense treatment being in the first 2 years. That time was particularly difficult I underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy and steroids. As well as regular lumbar punctures. All the staff that cared for me during that time were truly amazing. If wasn’t for the doctors and nurses looking after me day in and day out, my life would have been very different.
Since becoming a mum, my whole outlook on life has changed. Cliché I know, but true. I couldn’t imagine having to go through that with one of my own children, and my heart goes out to every parent facing a similar struggle today. One of the reasons we created Newly Born, is because we loved the feeling of gifting a unique and personalised gift to a special little one in your life. It felt natural to us, to want to support and give back to a charity that is very special to me. And that is where the idea came to create a special edition dummy clip in support of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.
By Supporting us £3 from every sale goes towards this amazing charity, who helped me and countless other families on their journey to getting healthy again. It really feels like a full circle moment to be able to give back and help families get the best medical treatment and support available.
